The project
It’s not often we get the opportunity to let our imaginations run wild and ditch the planning regulations, so when we were invited to submit a Bat Box design for Memorial Park Fleetwood we went for it! The competition organisers wanted to provide valuable nesting space for wildlife in the area, but they wanted something a bit grander than an average nesting box. The competition was open to the general public but we entered the category for Architects and Design Professionals.
How we worked
The design for Bat Tram was inspired by Fleetwood’s trams and the Batmobile. We thought it was a fun and quirky idea that would stand the test of time and reflect both the character of the area and bat conservation.
Project success
We won! Competition judges LeftCoast, Wyre Council and designer Tim Denton loved the originality and cleverness of the design. The finished Bat Tram box was built by Tim and is now installed as a permanent feature in Memorial Park Fleetwood.
